I ended up ordering the Seagate 7200.10 – 320gb yesterday from NCIX. I chose Express Shipping and I am hoping it will get to my house today, since it is air shipping and not ground. I haven’t received the drive yet but I am already planning how I’m going to set it up. I have been debating installiing Ubuntu on it since I don’t have any desktop machines running linux at the moment. I’m just not sure the other people in my house would like that idea. I know if I do choose windows, I’ll be reinstalling windows. The old hard drive that is dieing has so much garbage packed into it from old programs. Since uninstalling doesn’t seem to remove everything and they will often leave behind a lot of mess. If I get the drive today, I’ll have the whole weekend to try messing around and getting things working.

Next Purchase
I have been looking at buying a new hard drive recently. The reason I’m looking for a hard drive is because one of my current drives is starting to die. Windows keeps telling me that there are more and more bad sectors and I should backup all my data immediately. With hard drives getting larger and larger and the prices constantly coming down, why not get a new one. I have been interested in the Seagate 7200.10 – 320gb SATA2 drive. This drive uses the new perpendicular technology and some people have said it is almost as fast as a Raptor drive. Best of all though, its on sale right now at NCIX for $114. Now its time to convince myself that I really do need a new hard drive and to buy it!
Two Weeks to Tool
In about two weeks I’m off to Calgary and Edmonton to see Tool. It should be a lot of fun with some great music. For me to be able to go, I have to not take my EDO this week. By saving this weeks EDO, I’ll be taking off Thursday, August 24th instead so I can drive up to Calgary for the concert. Luckily, that holiday on Monday already made this a four day week so I’m not really missing out on much. After I get back from Tool, I have more concerts. September 19th, Red Hot Chili Peppers in Saskatoon, and then October 8th, Rolling Stones in Regina.
Stupid Sasktel
Since Monday, Sasktel has been providing very bad internet service. Never in the past have I ever had problems with my internet. It seems like everyone in Emerald Park/White City has been having problems with their Sasktel internet. I sure hope they fix their problems and get everything straightened out soon since this is ridiculous. In today’s world, the internet is just as important to people at the telephone and electricity. I’m just glad I didn’t have some school assignments that needed to be submitted or anything else important going on.
Upcoming Long Weekend
Next weekend is going to be a long weekend! I don’t plan on doing anything at all so I should count on getting nothing done. Maybe I’ll watch some more movies. I’ve bought quite a few movies recently, a lot of previously viewed ones from Rogers. These include : Pink Panther, Wedding Crashers, 40 Year Old Virgin, Dirty Deeds, Melinda and Melinda, The Ringer, as well I have also recently bought V for Vendetta, and The Benchwarmers. I’ll have to think of something else to do on the weekend since I have already finished watching all of them.
Second Rolling Stones Concert for Regina
With great fanfare, the Rolling Stones have announced that they will play a second show in Regina, Saskatchewan, Friday October 6. This comes on the heels of October 8th show selling out in minutes on Monday. Again, the Rider season ticket holders and Rolling Stones fan club members will be able to purchase tickets early and for everyone else tickets go on sale Friday, August 4th.
Formula 1: Kubica to Replace Villeneuve in Hungary
Kubica will replace Villeneuve for the Hungarian Grand-Prix after Jaques informed BMW that he is not ready to race after his accident in Germany. There is some speculation that Jaques Villeneuve’s career at BMW is ending. I am hoping that this is just a temporary replacement for the one race. Jaques is the only Canadian driver in the field and is a former world champion. I feel that he brings a lot to Formula One and should stick around longer.
Lack of Results
Last night our soccer team played really good but came up short in the end, losing 3 to 2. We took an early lead and were ahead 1 to 0 at the half. In the second the other team came out charging and scored to tie things up. Then they took the lead with a penalty shot goal on a somewhat debateable call. Our team continued to play strong but not having any subs really started to take its toll on our overall team energy. They scored a chip shot from far out that just dropped inside the crossbar for their third goal. With time running out, we managed to get a second goal but it was not enough. Our next game will be next Monday at 6pm.
